INTRODUCTION (20min.)
Co-chairs: Prof Quentin Eichbaum (CUGH)  and Prof Marietjie de Villiers (AFREhealth).

Welcome and introduction from Satellite organizers. Facilitated introductions of participants and their current interests and collaborations in global health. Explanation of day’s proceedings.

Part 1  (90  min.) -  EXPLORING AND CONSOLIDATING THE ‘ACCRA’ COLLABORATION ‘MAPS’
PART 1 will start with follow-up presentations (5 min) by AFREhealth and CUGH members from the inaugural AFREhealth panel discussion in Accra and what we learned at that meeting. This will be followed by a question and answer period and open-discussion. The goal of this part  will be to explore the mapping of the former MEPI Technical Working Groups (TWGs) onto the CUGH Education and Research (Sub)Committee structures with the goal of forming analogous feasible collaborative (technical) working groups between AFREhealth and CUGH (as suggested in Accra) (30-40 min).

The second 30 min of this session will be devoted to 3-5  Roundtable discussions centered around each of the new proposed working groups. The roundtables will each report back their findings to the group. (20min)

Section leaders: Marietjie de Villiers ( AFREhealth overview);  Quentin Eichbaum (CUGH Education Committee (EC) overview); Elsie Kigule-Malwadde (AFREhealth and The Network); Liz Grant (CUGH Research Committee) Andrew Dyckens (Capacity Building SC); Lisa Adams/Erika Frank (Educational products SC);

(Break - 10 min.)

Part 2  (70  min.)  BUILDING AFREHEALTH-CUGH  WORKING GROUPS
Part 2 will start with focused  talks of 10 minutes each by two AFREhealth leaders and one or two CUGH leaders  outlining their experiences and perspectives on what makes effective collaborative partnerships work and incorporating their vision for the AFREhealth-CUGH partnership.  (30 min)

Prof Peter Donkor (AFREhealth president)

“Facilitating successful partnerships - experiences and lessons learnt from North-South collaborations.”

Professor Nelson Sewankambo (AFREhealth):

"What does the global south want/need from the global north in health professional education -  nothing?; more of the same?; something different?"

Hon Dr Keith Martin (CUGH, Executive Director)

 “Building Equitable Partnerships for Impact in Development”

The session will then break into Roundtables to potentially develop the 3- 5 new working groups within the ACWG (decided on in Part 1). Each group will decide on a working group leader, founding members, and its goals and objectives over the coming year. (40 min)
